Chamber
Classical music group - Quartets, Quintets, duets, solos.... you name it. Anything regarded as classical music smaller than an orchestra.
Smaller Sessions
One of my most successful practices is recording sessions for pre-screening and auditions discs. The sessions are done on-site, usually at Okemos Community Church on the east side of Lansing, Michigan, however many have been done at Haslett High School and many of the venues at the School of Music at Michigan State University.
Recordings have gotten singers into most major music schools in the nation from Julliard to Northwestern. They also win competitions, most notably the Verdi Opera Competition in Detroit, Michigan. There has never been a problem with one of my recordings getting a singer into a school, and the feedback I get from schools on the discs is wonderful.
thoughts
Recorded in the Auditorium at the University of Michigan School of Music, this session I tried 3 different types of ideas using the beauty of a multitrack. I did end up using one setup that I will always use on marimba, with my favorite pair of mics no less. Unfortunately, half way through this session, the Digi-002 had problems, and the session had to be halted. We went back the next weekend to finish this session.
