Venues : College of Music Auditorium

College of Music Auditorium

Description

Seats: 360
This venue is perfect for the smaller faculty and and small group ensembles. Located at the School of Music, it is literally right next to the Recording Services office. Like the Great Hall, most of the seating is on the main level, with a small balcony. The stage has a fixed shell.

A Neumann stereo pair hangs fixed from the ceiling in ORTF with lines running directly to the office. Stage left is another snake box with inputs also running to the office. With jazz concerts, a mixing position is setup with lines running to the stage. In my opinion, this auditorium is terrible. One side faces the loading area where cars can park right next to the fire escape door…this is great for classical music with sounds of starting cars, or horns with the occasional yelling and weather noise. There are also two loud blower systems, and only one which can be turned off. Piano in this venue is the worst, so any recordings I personally do will always have extra microphones close up. For most broadcast recordings extra microphones are setup close with their lines running to the stage left snake and captured in the office.
